Last June, Matt and Tyler were driving
on the Trans-Canada Highway to Revelstoke, B.C.

A van swerves
Suddenly, a van in front of them swerved (turned direction quickly).
The van rolled down 20 metres
into Griffin Lake.
The van began to sink.
Matt and Tyler pulled over
to the side of the road.

Matt goes underwater and Tyler swims
Matt dove into the water.
One by one, he pulled out three people
from the underwater van.
Matt handed each person to Tyler.
Then Tyler swam, pulling each person to shore.

Both Matt and Tyler go underwater
One woman was trapped.
Matt could not move her.
The doors to the van could not open.
Time was running out.
Both Matt and Tyler went underwater.
Luckily, they saw a broken window.
They reached in and pulled the woman out by her legs.
Together, they brought her to land and saved her.
Matt and Tyler, from Kelowna, B.C.,
saved the lives of four family members.
In the spring, the Lifesaving Society of B.C.
honoured Matt, Tyler and 23 other heroes in B.C.
