Do you like to garden?
Do you wear gloves
when you garden?
They are probably made
by a company called Watson Gloves.

Each year, about 500,000 garden gloves
are sold by the Burnaby, B.C., business.
The gloves protect hands
from soil, insect bites and cuts.
The garden gloves cost
from $6.99 to $19.99.

400 different styles
Watson gloves are made
for home, work or play.
The police wear them.
Workers wear them, too.

History
In 1918, John Watson and Wayne Stanley
started the business.
They made gloves
for Vancouver’s dock workers.

About 100 years later,
Watson Gloves has grown
across Canada, the U.S., Japan and Europe.
