Crispy chickpeas recipe

Chickpeas have lots of fibre and protein, making them a healthy snack or side dish. This recipe makes two cups of crispy, tasty chickpeas.

What you need:

  • 1 can (540 mililitres) no salt added chickpeas, drained and rinsed
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon seasoning of choice (such as pepper, chili powder, garlic powder, etc.)

What you do:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Spread the chickpeas on a clean towel. Fold the towel over and rub gently to dry them. Remove as much skin as you can.
  3. Pat the chickpeas dry. The drier they are, the crispier they will get.
  4. Toss the chickpeas in oil and salt in a bowl. Then, spread them on a baking sheet.
  5. Bake for 40-50 minutes, shaking the pan every 15 minutes, until golden brown.
  6. Remove from the oven and add seasoning.
  7. Let them cool. They will get crunchier as they cool. These are best eaten on the same day.
