In B.C., we are getting less rain and snow than before. This is causing a drought.
What is a drought?
Drought happens when there is not enough rain or snow for a long time. This can lead to a lack of water. Water is important for drinking, growing food and keeping animals and plants healthy.
What is lack of water?
Lack of water means there is not enough water for people, animals or plants. This can cause big problems.
What you can do:
- Take shorter showers. One less minute saves water.
- Turn off the tap when brushing your teeth or shaving.
- Fix leaky toilets.
- Don’t wash your car.
- Wash full loads of laundry to use less water.
- Fill the sink when washing dishes by hand.
- Keep a jug of cold water in the fridge, so you don’t run the tap.
