More classrooms for B.C. students

More classrooms are coming to B.C.This is a classroom.

The Province says 33 new classrooms will be built in growing communities.

The new classrooms will add 820 student spaces.

Five schools will get new additions. These schools are in Langley, Abbotsford, Kelowna and North Vancouver.

A school in Burns Lake will be replaced. The old building has structural problems. The new school will also be more accessible.

The Province will use prefabricated construction for these projects.

Prefabricated means parts of a building are made before they arrive at the school site. Then workers put the parts together.

This can help build classrooms faster.

The Province says these classrooms are permanent. They must meet the same building standards as regular classrooms.

Many communities in B.C. are growing. More families are moving into these areas. That means more students need places to learn.

New classrooms can help students stay closer to home. They can also help schools have more space for learning, reading, playing and working together.

Since fall 2023, B.C. has approved many prefabricated school projects. These projects will create thousands of new student spaces.

A classroom is more than a room.

It is a place where students learn new words, ask questions, make friends and grow.
