I have a visible disability that makes it difficult for me to do things like walk, and do everyday tasks like carrying coffee that sometimes spills.

The trouble with meeting new people in the community is they can have a strong negative belief about me. The other issue is that they don’t understand what difficulty I have faced in life.

I ignore their attitude towards me and give them a positive picture of my life. As an adult, I have a wonderful life. I have a part-time job at a gym where I clean the equipment. I attend college and will earn a certificate. I bowl for Special Olympics and have made the provincials.

I have lots of friends and family who know I am special because I have come so far and have not let other people’s opinions distract me from my successes in life.
